I was very proud in 1997 to be selected to build the first official website for Bob Dylan, BobDylan.com. The website launch was timed to coincide with the release of his seminal comeback album Time Out of Mind.
I worked under the leadership of my friend and fellow Dylanologist Dan Levy. Our site won a Yahoo best music website award and was widely considered a prime example of a tasteful and intelligent website for a great rock artist. Under the hood, the very first version of the site was a ragtag beehive of Perl scripts and CGI executables, as befits the state of the art for web publishing in 1997.
We were hired again to completely rebuild and redesign Bob Dylan's website in 2001 for his album Love and Theft, and this time we were able to launch a much more comprehensive website, including Jive-based message boards and a comprehensive 360-degree catalog of Dylan's complete discography linked to lyrics and purchase links.
Technologies: Perl, MySQL, Java, Jive.
